I’ve been thinking a lot about the role social media might have played in Cody's decision-making process leading up to the tragic event. At 17, it's not uncommon for teenagers to be highly influenced by what they see and hear online. Was there anything on his social media accounts that indicated he might have been planning this horrific act? Any troubling posts or interactions that could have been a red flag but went unnoticed?
Ophelia's family must be reeling from this unimaginable loss, especially knowing her life was cut short by someone she cared for, even if from a distance. It's just a reminder of how complex family dynamics can be and how important it is to pay attention to changes in behavior, especially when young individuals are involved. My thoughts are with Ophelia's family, and I hope they can find some sense of closure knowing that justice has been served, though I know that can never truly heal the loss.
What do you all think about the fact that so much of our lives are online now? Does it make it easier to hide things—or for something to finally come to light?
