Has anyone else been thinking about the role of the police in situations like the one with John Wesley Seth Jr.? It’s such a devastating loss for his family, and I can't help but wonder if things could have been different. Seth had apparently filed so many reports over the years about his neighbor, Santiago Vasquez. Why weren’t the complaints taken more seriously by the authorities?
It's all too easy to think that something could have been done to prevent this tragedy if the ongoing harassment had been addressed sooner. I understand that these types of disputes can be complex, but when someone repeatedly reaches out for help, it seems like there should be a system in place to at least try and intervene before things get out of hand like they did here.
I just feel so bad for Seth’s family; it’s unimaginable to think about how they must have felt knowing their concerns were brushed aside. This situation makes me really reflect on how important it is for police to take neighborhood disputes seriously, and I hope this case brings about some change. Thoughts?
