Hey everyone, I’ve been going over the details surrounding the murder of Christopher Jolly, and I keep coming back to the community's response to this tragedy. It's so upsetting to see yet another young life taken by senseless violence. I read that following the arrests of Guerrero, Edmond, and Brantley, local groups and churches in Lubbock started organizing vigils and community meetings to address gang violence. It’s really moving to see people coming together trying to find solutions and support one another during such tough times, though it’s awful that it takes something so tragic to spark this. From what I gather, there's been a push for more youth programs and outreach in the area, aimed at keeping kids safe and off the streets. Do any of you Lubbock locals know how these initiatives have been progressing, or if there are ways the broader community can help support them? I think focusing on preventative measures is crucial in making sure Christopher’s story isn’t just another statistic. Much love to the Jolly family and everyone affected by this. It's during times like these that we all need to look out for each other more than ever. Stay safe, everyone.
