I've been thinking a lot about this tragedy involving Lidia Carapia-Hernandez, and I can't get past how neighbors might be impacted by what happened. To know that something so horrendous unfolded next door must be overwhelming, especially in a community that’s probably used to feeling safe and connected. I hope the community in North Austin is finding ways to come together and support one another through such a difficult time. It’s crucial to not only lean on each other but to also have open dialogues about how incidents like these are affecting everyone. I’m curious if there have been any neighborhood initiatives or support groups started since this incident? Anything that might help neighbors heal and feel secure again would be so important right now. Lastly, my heart is with Lidia’s family and friends—losing someone in such an awful way is unimaginable, and I hope they’re finding the support they need. If anyone has any ideas or information on ways the community can further support the family, please share.
