Has anyone else been following the terrible case of young Darius Dugas? It's just so hard to fathom that an innocent child lost his life in such a senseless way. I was struck by how the apartment complex parking lot, a place where the community should feel safe and secure, turned into the scene of such tragedy. This should be a wake-up call for all of us about the safety of our neighborhoods.
I can't help but think about how the situation might have been different if more safety measures were in place at the complex. Maybe better lighting or security cameras could have deterred the suspect or provided quicker evidence to resolve the case. Reading about Darius, he seemed like such a sweet and promising young person whose life was unfairly cut short.
