I've been thinking a lot about the vigil that was held for DeAries Marcel George and the impact it seems to have had on the community. It's truly touching to see how people have come together to honor his memory. Lighting candles and sharing stories about DeAries is such a beautiful way to keep his spirit alive, especially for someone who was evidently a light in so many lives. It really shows the strength and unity within Knoxville when faced with such a senseless tragedy. Moments like these seem to bring out the best in us, reminding us of what's really important. While it’s impossible to fill the void left by DeAries's passing, it’s heartwarming to see his legacy bringing people together to strive for change. I'm hoping these gatherings continue to inspire conversations about how we can address the issues contributing to violence, not just in Knoxville, but everywhere. It’s about time we honor the lives of those like DeAries by fighting for a future where fewer families have to endure this kind of pain. Sending love and strength to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Has anyone else noticed how much DeAries meant to the kids in his neighborhood? I’ve been following his story, and I continually hear how he always took the time to mentor younger folks around him, whether it was playing basketball or just being someone they could talk to. It seems like he was a real role model for them. I can only imagine how much they miss having him around. I just wish the investigation could move forward so his friends and family could find some peace. It's tough to see such a positive influence lost to senseless violence. Sending love to all those who are mourning him.
