Did anyone else find it incredibly painful that Larry Boyd was killed during an event meant to stop violence? It’s such a harsh irony that his life was taken during a gathering aimed at promoting peace. My thoughts go out to his family and everyone who knew him. It's a reminder of how deeply rooted issues of violence are in some communities, and how much work still needs to be done. The fact that Derrick Jefferson targeted Larry at such a meaningful event is a slap in the face to everyone who is trying to make a positive difference. I hope this tragedy doesn't deter future initiatives but instead strengthens the resolve to find solutions. How do we make sure these events remain safe spaces for promoting peace and not platforms for further violence?
