I can't stop thinking about DeDe Young's little one, left behind in the wake of this awful tragedy. Imagine growing up without your dad, especially someone who was described as so vibrant and caring. It breaks my heart for the child and for DeDe’s family who will have to navigate this new reality. From what I’ve read, DeDe had plans to go back to school and must have had big dreams for both himself and his child. It’s just devastating to think those dreams were shattered in an instant. I hope the community continues to rally around them and provide support. No family should have to endure such a loss. Love and strength to them. ?
Hey everyone,
I've been following the case of Deairrious "DeDe" Young, and I can't stop thinking about the role of youth violence in this tragedy. It’s truly devastating to see two young lives cut short and two more, barely entering adulthood, facing such severe consequences. The fact that Antonio Turner and Justice Walton were both only 17 at the time really troubles me.
What’s happening in our communities that leads to teens believing violence is a solution, especially to conflicts like the one that reportedly happened earlier that day? These kids should be worrying about normal teenage things—school, sports, thinking about their futures—not dealing with life-and-death situations.
It's just so important to open up discussions around youth intervention and support systems that might prevent another tragedy like this. I hope that in the wake of such sorrow, Milan can pull together and work towards a safer environment for all its young people. Sending love and support to DeDe's family and everyone else affected.
What do you all think? How can communities help prevent violence among their young people?
This case is truly devastating. I can't help but think about the young life Deairrious "DeDe" Young had ahead of him and the dreams he wanted to achieve. He was just 20 years old and had recently become a father. My heart goes out to his family, especially his child who will grow up without their dad. It's hard to comprehend how a situation could escalate to the point of such a tragic loss. The community feeling so unsafe is understandable with the additional gunfire reported that night. I hope Milan can come together and heal from this senseless tragedy. Sending strength and support to DeDe's loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
