I can't believe what happened to Dewyanne Reed. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that a young man lost his life over something so trivial. What really stands out to me is the apparent disconnect between store policies and what some employees feel compelled to do. Retail workers shouldn’t have to think they're in a position to enforce the law, especially with such a drastic outcome. I can't imagine the pain his family is going through, knowing his life was cut short over something that could have been easily resolved through non-violent means. This situation should open up conversations not only about retail policies but also about how we train and support workers in high-stress environments. Sending love and thoughts to Dewyanne's family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time.
