I’ve been reading up on the case of Michael Sherard, and I'm troubled by some of the details surrounding the trial. It’s been weighing on my mind how the jury was all-white. In a city as diverse as Philadelphia, how could they think this would be a fair representation? It makes me wonder how race played a role not just in Michael’s tragic death, but also in the acquittal. It feels like another layer of injustice for his family to endure. My heart goes out to them, dealing with such a loss and feeling like there’s no accountability. These systemic issues have deep roots, and this case sadly shows how much work there is still to do.
