I’ve been reading through a lot about Patrick J. Cassidy’s case, and one thing that really stands out to me is the complexity of the legal proceedings. The fact that Derrickson, just 16, was sentenced to life without parole raises so many questions about juvenile sentencing laws. It's hard not to feel caught between wanting justice for Cassidy and grappling with the harsh reality of life sentences for teenagers. The court seemed pretty convinced by the prosecution's case despite the alibis presented by Derrickson's family. I hope Cassidy's loved ones have found some peace knowing there's accountability, but it's such a difficult situation all around. Can’t help but wonder how differently this might be handled today with evolving views on juvenile justice. What do you all think about these life sentences for minors?
