I’ve been reading up on the tragic case of Billy Veasey, and something that really stands out to me is how vulnerable and exposed witnesses' family members become in situations like this. It breaks my heart for Billy and his family. The idea that someone could be targeted with such violence just because of their brother’s actions—testifying in hopes of bringing justice to light—is deeply unsettling. This shows the harsh reality and heavy price that comes with standing up against organized crime. I can’t help but feel for John Veasey, who was under protection but still had to live with the fear that those threats would reach his loved ones. It's a stark reminder of why so many are hesitant to come forward, even when they know it’s the right thing to do. My thoughts and condolences go out to Billy's family—no one should have to face this kind of tragedy.
