Maurice seemed like he had a bright future, and it's a loss not only for his family but for all the people he could have touched with his kindness and ambition. My heart goes out to his parents; I can't even begin to imagine the pain they're enduring. While the verdict against Kendrick brings some justice, I hope this serves as a catalyst for change and healing within the community. Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live, regardless of their background.
