I’ve been following Malcolm Claibourne’s case and it’s just so difficult to think about what his family must be going through. One thing that’s been on my mind is the area where it happened—the 2900 block of Frankford Avenue. I used to live not far from there, and even back then, it seemed like the neighborhood had more than its share of violence. It's such a shame because there are so many good people there who deserve to feel safe. I wonder if the environment might have hindered witnesses from coming forward. Sometimes in these areas, the “no snitching” culture really gets in the way of justice. If only more people would feel safe enough to share what they know. It’s a tragedy not just for Malcolm but for the whole community impacted by fear and silence. My heart truly goes out to Malcolm’s loved ones; it's terrible to be left waiting for answers. I hope they find some peace and that someone with information finds the courage to speak up.
