Anyone else feel completely heart-wrenched thinking about Shylique's daughter growing up without her dad? Kay'onni is just a little girl, and it's hard to imagine how she'll process everything as she gets older. The community really seems to rally around supporting Shanta and the family, which is so important as Kay’onni grows up without Shylique. It makes you think about the long-term impact these violent acts have on everybody involved, especially the youngest ones. I really hope she has a lot of loving family to help fill that gap, and I hope someday she knows just how loved her father was. How do we even begin to address the cycle of violence that rips families apart like this?
