I came across Thalyl "Baby 9" Taylor's case recently, and my heart goes out to his family, especially his mother, Chimere. Losing a child is unimaginable, and to lose two sons to gun violence is beyond comprehension. One thing that stands out to me is the lack of progress in finding who is responsible for Thalyl’s death. It seems like gun violence claims so many young lives, and yet, as in Thalyl’s case, justice often remains elusive.
What are the obstacles in getting justice in cases like these? Are there particular challenges in Philadelphia that make it difficult to solve such crimes? It's so frustrating to see families like the Quattlebaums left without answers while dealing with their grief.
I'm also curious if anyone has seen efforts in other communities that effectively address unsolved gun violence cases or support affected families. Maybe these could offer some hope or solutions for Thalyl’s community. How can we push for this to become a priority? Thalyl deserved a future, just like so many others. Keeping his story alive is important; hopefully, it will lead to some form of justice for him and his family.
Hey everyone,
I've been following the case of Thalyl "Baby 9" Taylor, and something that's been on my mind is how the pandemic's restrictions really added another layer of pain for his grieving family. It's gut-wrenching that his family couldn’t honor him with the kind of farewell he truly deserved due to COVID-19 limitations. It must have been incredibly hard for them not to be able to have a full gathering to celebrate his life and support each other through it. I can't imagine how his mother, Chimere, manages to find strength amid all the trauma she's faced, first losing Manny and now Thalyl. It seems as though the family—and the community—would benefit so much from a resolution in this case, not just for justice but for their own healing.
I hope someday they’ll get the answers and peace they're looking for. Who knows, maybe if more people keep talking about it, something will break in this case. Sending love to everyone who's ever had to deal with this kind of pain.
Stay safe, everybody.
Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about Thalyl "Baby 9" Taylor's case and something that's been bothering me is the lack of attention and support his family has received, especially during such a tough time. Can you imagine enduring the loss of not just one, but two sons to gun violence? And then to have all this happen right as COVID-19 hit, making it hard to even gather for a proper funeral... it’s truly unimaginable.
It’s really disheartening that the community, which ought to be rallying around them, seems to have left them without the justice they deserve. I keep wondering, what more can be done to bring attention to this case? How can we help Chimere, his mom, find some peace and hopefully some answers? No parent should have to bury their child, let alone two. It seems like both Thalyl and his brother Manny's deaths have been swept under the rug, which is just not right.
Thalyl seemed like such a bright young man with a promising future, and though he faced his own health challenges, he was thriving. He was on his way to achieving his dreams in basketball, all while being a dedicated student. We can't let his story just fade away. If anyone has any ideas on how we can push forward, please share. We owe it to Thalyl and his family to not let his case go cold.
