Is anyone here familiar with the Santa Monica hitchhiking scene in the early '70s? I've been looking into Pamela Jean Spencer’s disappearance, and it struck me how little information we have about the people she might have encountered on her way to Malibu. How common was hitchhiking along that route during that time? Did anyone have experiences or hear stories about the regulars or any unusual characters that often picked up hitchhikers back then? It seems like someone must have seen something or heard something, especially with the popularity of hitchhiking during that era. Her case has haunted me, especially knowing she had her dog, Layla, with her. If anyone has insights or even tidbits about that scene or how people managed to stay safe (or the risks they faced), I’d love to hear more. Anything could potentially help piece together what might have happened that day.

Hey everyone, I've been diving deep into Pamela Jean Spencer's case and noticed something that seems a bit off—the role of her dog, Layla. I mean, Pamela was known to have Layla with her on that fateful day in January 1973 when she vanished. It's a big dog, a Malamute-Shepherd mix, which would usually attract attention. Did anyone ever find any traces of Layla, or does anyone recall seeing a similar dog around that time? Dogs can sometimes be witnesses and leave a trail, right? It's odd that there seem to be no reports of anyone seeing Layla either. Makes me wonder if looking into Layla's whereabouts back then could provide a missed piece of the puzzle. Thoughts?
