It's truly devastating to see another life lost to violence in the Homewood neighborhood. My heart goes out to Johnnie Lee Higgins' family and friends who are undoubtedly facing an unimaginable loss right now. I was reading about the ShotSpotter system and how it alerted the police, but it makes me wonder—how effective is this system if there are still no leads? I understand it's a tool to detect gunfire, but does anyone know if it helps in actually piecing together these cases? In communities like Homewood that are trying to curb violence, it seems critical to not just respond to these alerts, but to have a structure in place that can quickly lead to suspects being identified. Anyone have insights into how this technology is being used effectively in similar cases? It just feels like more should be done to help families like the Higgins get the justice and closure they so desperately need.
It's been over a year since the tragic loss of Johnnie Lee Higgins, and it hurts to see his case still unresolved. I can't imagine what his loved ones are going through, knowing that justice hasn't been served yet. Homewood, like many parts of Pittsburgh, deals with its share of violence, but this is just devastating. What's particularly haunting is the lack of witnesses or suspects; it makes me wonder how someone could commit such a terrible act and simply vanish. Are there any efforts being made to increase community involvement or awareness, like neighborhood watches or meetings? Perhaps more can be done to encourage locals to come forward if they know something. More than anything, I hope the investigation eventually brings answers and some sense of peace for his family and friends. Let's not forget Johnnie and others affected by this cycle of violence.
