I’ve been thinking a lot about Allison Krause’s story and how her loss resonates even to this day. Her love for peace is so beautifully captured by her words, "Flowers are better than bullets." It's chilling how her life was taken at such a young age during a moment when she was advocating for non-violence. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain her family and friends went through and how different their lives might have been if this tragedy hadn’t happened. What strikes me is the lack of accountability for such a devastating event. It feels like justice was never truly served, and that just adds another layer of sorrow to an already difficult story. People often gloss over the personal pain in historical discussions, but I believe each of these students deserves to be remembered not just as victims of a tragic moment in history, but as individuals with dreams, ideas, and lives they never got to live. Hoping that more people will learn about Allison and the other students—there’s so much we can take from their stories about courage, activism, and the importance of standing up for what we believe in.
