I’ve been reading up on Officer Richard Fickeisen’s case, and it’s incredibly moving to think about the long-term impact of that tragic day on his family. I can’t imagine how his wife and children managed during those 13 years after the shooting, with Officer Fickeisen enduring such a difficult recovery. It must have been so challenging for them to grapple with the uncertainty of his health and future while trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy. Does anyone know if his family has spoken publicly or shared any personal stories or tributes about him? I think hearing about his life outside of his work might remind us all of the man he was, beyond his role as an officer.
