Hey everyone,
I've been diving deep into Dorian Anderson's case lately, and one thing that’s been sticking with me is the community's response—or lack thereof—to the uptick in violence around that time. It's just so upsetting to know that in 2012, so many families were going through what Anderson's loved ones experienced, with almost no support or solutions in sight.
From what I've gathered, there were community meetings and discussions about how to tackle the rise in crime, but it seems like not much changed. It’s just bewildering that despite clear evidence of the problem, tangible actions didn’t follow. I’m curious to hear from anyone who might have lived in Detroit back then or who has insights into how the community was (or wasn't) able to pull together during such a challenging period. Do you think more grassroots involvement could have made a difference, or were things too far gone by then?
Sending love and strength to all those who continue to bear the weight of loss from that year. ?
