I'm surprised there hasn't been more attention on the fact that Mary's car was still at her home when they checked. If Paul was using her credit cards and cashing her Social Security checks, wouldn't he have needed a car to get around? It's odd that everything was packed up like she was planning on going somewhere, yet her vehicle was left behind. It almost seems like whatever happened to her, she never got the chance to leave as she might have intended. Not to mention, if Paul was up to shady stuff, wouldn’t he have tried to get rid of her car, too? It just seems like an unfinished story to me. Has there ever been any talk about looking into any CCTV footage from areas around where she lived during that time? I know it was 2004 and maybe that tech wasn’t as widely used, but it might have captured something if available.
Has anyone else noticed how strange it is that Mary Ann Mergel’s belongings were packed up at her place? I’ve been following this case for a while now, and this detail has always stuck with me. If she packed her things, was she planning to leave, or was someone else trying to make it look that way? The fact that her vehicle was still there makes it even more puzzling. If she was going somewhere, wouldn’t she have taken her car? It just doesn’t add up to me. Also, why would her son, Paul, forge her signature and drain her accounts if he wasn’t involved somehow? I’m curious if anyone has any thoughts or theories about what might have happened to her and who could have packed her belongings. It's just such an eerie case with so many unanswered questions.
