Has anyone else been thinking about the eyewitness trauma in Joel Solis Recio's case? I can't shake the thought of those motorists and utility workers who unexpectedly became part of such a horrific event. Imagine being someone just going about your day, only to witness Joel's desperate escape attempt and then his tragic murder. I hope these individuals have found support systems to cope with the aftermath. It's easy to focus solely on the direct victim, but the ripple effects are significant. My heart goes out to Joel's family, and I also find myself worrying about those strangers who now carry such haunting memories.
I've been thinking a lot about the utility worker who tried to help Joel Solis Recio on that exit ramp. Can you imagine witnessing something so terrifying and trying your best to intervene? It must have been traumatizing, and I can only hope they have received the support they need to cope with what they experienced. We sometimes focus so much on the crime and the criminals that we forget about these everyday heroes caught up in the horror. Just so tragic for Joel and incredibly tough for anyone involved that day. It makes me wonder how often people find themselves in situations where they have the courage to step up but can't prevent the inevitable. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this case.
