I've been following the case of Kyyri De Ji Marquis Doggette's tragic murder, and something that's really staying with me is the plea deal accepted by Andre Earl Brooks. I can’t imagine the mix of emotions Kyyri's family must be feeling about this—disappointment, frustration, even anger. It's such a tough spot to be in, wanting justice and facing the reality of how the legal system sometimes works. Kyyri deserves justice, and his son, Luke, deserves to grow up knowing that his father's life mattered. I truly hope the decision brings some peace, though, I know it doesn’t fill the void left by Kyyri's absence. It's so important to keep talking about the impact of gun violence in our communities and finding ways to stop tragedies like this from happening. Sending my thoughts and strength to everyone affected by this senseless loss.
