Hi everyone, This case really hits home for me, having grown up just a few streets away from where the tragedy took place on Niblick Drive. I remember the shockwaves Jahmel's death sent through our community. It's a small neighborhood, and it's hard to imagine such violence happening so close by. What really stuck with me about this case is how Jahmel's friends described him. They talked about his infectious smile and how he loved basketball. It's those little glimpses into someone's life that remind me there’s so much more to a person than just the headlines. I hope that with the arrest of Ervin Majors, Jahmel's family and friends are finding some semblance of closure, though I know the pain of losing someone never fully goes away. To those affected, my thoughts are with you, and I hope justice is served in the courtroom and beyond. It's encouraging to see the community coming together to try and prevent more senseless acts like this one. Stay safe, everyone.

It’s incredibly important that we keep discussing the systemic issues in these cases. Something that struck me about Jahmel Dales' case is the lengthy duration it took to make an arrest. It was over three years before police could charge Ervin Majors, and while I understand investigations can be complicated, it makes me wonder about the challenges law enforcement faces in cases like this. Jahmel deserved justice much sooner, and his family shouldn't have had to spend years in uncertainty. It raises questions about resources, community trust, and collaboration. No family should live in limbo, waiting for answers about their loved one’s death. It’s a painful reminder of how our system sometimes falls short. Hoping this case prompts some positive changes in how these tragedies are handled in the future. Thoughts and support for Jahmel's loved ones who are undoubtedly still carrying this pain with them.
