I've been thinking a lot about the Juneteenth shooting on Beatties Ford Road, especially about how Jamaa Keon Cassell’s life was cut short in such a sudden and senseless way. It’s incredibly hard to comprehend how an event meant to celebrate freedom and unity could end up in such tragedy. What really troubles me is the fact that, despite so many witnesses, the shooters have still not been identified or brought to justice. It's been over three years, and feelings in the community must still be raw. I can't even imagine the pain Jamaa's family is going through, having to face day after day without any answers or sense of peace. They deserve justice as much as he deserved the chance to live a full life. It's so frustrating to see how the lack of cooperation is halting progress in the case. I hope that people who were there realize how important their voices are. Speaking up could be the key to bringing relief to all the families affected. It’s time that those responsible are held accountable for tearing apart so many lives. Sending love to the families and hoping for a breakthrough soon.
