Hey everyone,
I've been looking into the disappearance of Kenneth Lee Gautier, and something really caught my attention. It's about those two mysterious collect calls made in 1981. I find it so odd that they were traced to places so far apart – a payphone in Daytona Beach and then a cellblock in the Orange County Jail. What are the chances that whoever made the calls had ties to both of these locations? Could it mean that Lee, if it was indeed him, might have been moving around Florida after he went missing? Or perhaps someone else was trying to communicate something by using his name? It's quite perplexing. Anyone familiar with Daytona Beach or the Orange County area in the early 80s that might have insight into how these places might connect?
Has anyone ever looked into why someone would call collect from a jail using Lee Gautier's name years after he vanished? It seems so odd that both calls, one from a payphone and the other from the Orange County Jail, resulted in hang-ups before his parents could speak to him. Could it have been someone playing a cruel joke, or maybe someone trying to pass on information? I can’t help but wonder if there's a missing link between Kenneth’s trip to Florida in his Karmann Ghia and what led to these mysterious calls. Was he in trouble with the law back then, or maybe knew someone who was? It baffles me that the calls were ignored as possible leads—surely, there must be more to that angle. If anyone from the area remembers anything from back then, even rumors about who could make that call, it might help his family find some peace, even decades later.
