Kenneth Lee Gautier, a 20-year-old from New York, disappeared in the summer of 1975 while visiting family in Ruskin, Florida. Gautier, who was living with roommates in nearby Bradenton at the time, was last seen on June 1, 1975. He had driven to Florida in a green Karmann Ghia, which has not been recovered since his disappearance. His family reported that they last spoke with him in a normal conversation just before he vanished. Despite their efforts to locate him, no significant leads have emerged.
One of the distinctive physical features of Gautier is his missing fingers on his right hand, which were lost in a fireworks accident. He also had long hair and a slight build, standing 6 feet tall and weighing about 130 pounds. Gautier’s case took a strange turn in 1981 when his parents received two collect calls from someone identifying themselves as "Lee Gautier"—the name his family called him. However, the caller hung up both times before the connection was completed. These calls were traced to a payphone in Daytona Beach and later to a cellblock in the Orange County Jail, but investigators were unable to determine who made them.
The circumstances of Gautier’s disappearance remain unresolved, and no further clues have surfaced despite investigations. His family continues to hope for answers regarding his fate.
