Just stumbled across this case and can't stop thinking about the situation poor William Collins found himself in. As a former school teacher turned Federal Prohibition Agent, I can't imagine the shift in life experiences he went through from teaching in a classroom to dealing with the dangerous environment of enforcing Prohibition laws. It's truly upsetting to picture how just doing his job led him to such an unexpected and tragic end.
What really stands out to me is how his body, along with Deputy Duhon's, was moved in an attempt to cover up where the murder actually took place. It adds a chilling layer of premeditation to the whole event. Has anyone else thought about how this could've altered the investigation? Moving the crime scene must have made it exponentially harder for law enforcement to piece together what happened in those crucial early hours. I'm really hoping William's family and especially his wife, Mallace, found some peace eventually. This case just underscores the treacherous challenges faced by those upholding the law during Prohibition.
