Has anyone else been following the aftermath of the August 10, 2007 tragedy in Bastrop? I was just reading about Detective Charles "Chuck" Wilson, and it’s so upsetting to think about how this brave officer's life was cut short in such a violent way. It's hard to imagine the impact this has had on his family and the community he served for 11 years. I've been trying to wrap my head around how the female suspect managed to escape after the incident. It's chilling to think she was out there for two more days before being caught. Kudos to the US Marshals for apprehending her so quickly, but I keep thinking about the risk she posed during that time. Does anyone know if there were specific protocols or support systems put in place for officers’ families in such incidents? I hope Detective Wilson's family felt the community’s support surround them during this unimaginable loss.
