I recently came across the tragic case of Carlos Jenkins, the cab driver who was murdered in Shreveport back in 2014. One aspect I'm trying to wrap my head around is why the charges were changed from second-degree murder to manslaughter for Reginald Williams. Does anyone have insights on what usually leads to such charge reductions in Louisiana? I understand it could involve plea deals, but it just seems unfair considering the gravity of the crime. My heart goes out to Carlos's family; I can't even imagine the pain of not seeing justice fully served. If anyone is familiar with legal proceedings in similar cases, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
