I still find myself thinking about Dwayne Batiste Jr. and what his family must be going through. It's been years since that terrible night in 2014, and I can't even begin to imagine the pain they've had to endure. While the arrests of those involved, like Dwayne Carmouche Jr. and Cody Brown, are positive steps, it brings me some relief to see that the Lafayette Police Department isn't giving up on this or the other cases. Their task force shows just how crucial community assistance is in these investigations. It's commendable that they are not only focused on bringing those responsible to justice but are also relentlessly seeking answers. They’ve put a lot on the line to piece together this puzzle. The arrest of Cody Brown, especially, seems to be a pivotal moment that hopefully brings some semblance of closure to Dwayne's loved ones. This case continues to be a stark reminder of how devastating gun violence can be and how relentless we must be in combating it. If you're in Lafayette or anywhere else, every small piece of information counts—let’s get these families the justice they deserve.
