I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of witnesses in cases like the one involving Linton Batiste and Antonio Means. It's so hard to imagine being the one who walks away from such a tragic event, and then having to relive the details in court. I can't even begin to fathom what that must be like, having to balance the weight of your own experiences with the pressure of delivering accurate testimony. This case must have been incredibly tough for everyone involved in the trial, especially for those who were there that night. Whatever people’s thoughts are on the verdict, I think it’s crucial to remember the personal toll these events take on witnesses. Their courage in revisiting traumatic moments to help seek justice deserves a lot of appreciation. My heart goes out to Linton and Antonio's families—hopefully, sharing their stories and speaking up continues to push the conversation forward on preventing these senseless acts in the future.
