I was just reading about Shamarr Dionte Owens’ tragic case, and I feel so much for his family and friends who must be carrying such a heavy burden not knowing who did this. Drive-by shootings are so incredibly senseless, and it’s upsetting how they often leave communities feeling vulnerable and unsafe. It’s hard to imagine sitting innocently in a car, just living life, and then having everything change in an instant. Shamarr and his friend didn’t deserve this. I hope that with time more information comes to light. Maybe someone out there knows something that could finally bring closure to his loved ones and the community. If anyone has any info that could help, it’s so important to come forward. It’s cases like this that remind us of the need for real solutions to the violence we’re seeing way too often. Peace to Shamarr’s family and to his friend who survived—a survivor of both the incident and the trauma that must linger.
