I was reading about Roshelle Lemon's case, and I can't stop thinking about how this has also affected her children, Shilo and Sheldon. Losing a parent in such a violent manner is unimaginably difficult, not to mention the loss of their unborn sibling, Alcide Ricky. I hope they are surrounded by loving support to help them through this dark time. Maybe there’s something we, as a community, can do to assist them or keep Roshelle's memory alive? Her faith and kindness seemed to have touched many, so perhaps starting a scholarship fund or community project in her name could be a way to honor her legacy. Anyone else have ideas or know if something like this is already in the works? It just seems like a small way to push back against the violence and keep her spirit shining.
Does anyone else find it incredibly frustrating that Roshelle's case still hasn’t seen any progress after all this time? It’s such a senseless tragedy, and I can't even begin to imagine what her family must be going through. I came across a few articles mentioning the location and thought about how unsafe that area has been known to be. Higgins Boulevard and Louisa Street have been hotspots for a while, according to some locals I've talked to.
But what really sticks with me is how this crime reflects on the broader issue of violence in New Orleans. There needs to be more pressure on getting resources allocated for preventing these crimes in the first place. I hope that by keeping Roshelle's name out there, authorities feel the push needed to resolve this case. If anyone around that area remembers anything from that day, even if it seems minor, please step forward. Her family deserves answers, and it’s up to us to help however we can.
I can't stop thinking about how important it is for communities to come together for cases like Roshelle Lemon's. The fact that she was a devoted mother and was expecting another baby just adds to the tragedy. It's hard to comprehend the pain her family must be going through right now. The Desire Area has seen its share of violence, and it makes me wonder if the community feels safe or is preparing to act collectively in response to Roshelle’s murder.
Community gatherings or vigil events can sometimes provide solace and reignite the push for justice. If anyone from New Orleans has insight into whether there have been or might be any community-driven responses or support groups forming around this case, I think that kind of information could help spread awareness and maybe even encourage someone to come forward with new information. Every little bit of communal effort can make a huge difference.
