I was reading through the forum, and I can't stop thinking about the impact Wilbert Bernard Smith's murder must have had on his loved ones and the Broadmoor community. It's so tragic to see someone lost to gun violence, and it hits even harder when there's little progress in finding the perpetrator. I don't understand how a year can pass without any solid leads or arrests. It must be incredibly frustrating and painful for Mr. Smith's family, not knowing if justice will ever be served.
I noticed the community has been lighting candles on GunMemorial.org, and it’s heartening to see that 34 people have taken a moment to honor him, but it’s clear his family needs more than just memorials; they need answers. I hope the NOPD is doing everything they can and that people with information will step forward. New Orleans is such a vibrant city, but the shadow of gun violence dims that light.
Does anyone know if there have been recent community initiatives or meetings discussing this case or broader efforts to address gun violence in the area? It feels like there has to be something we as a community can do to support the investigation and ensure more tragedies like this are prevented in the future.
