I've been following Devin Kirk's case, and one thing that really struck me was the friendship between Devin, Jamel Jelks, and Deontae Hodges. It must have been incredibly traumatic for Jamel and Deontae to witness such a horrific event involving their close friend. They were just kids, barely out of high school, and to have something so violent happen in front of them is unimaginable.
I can only hope that they have found some sort of counseling or support to help them process it all. It's easy to focus on the trial, the charges, and the legal proceedings, but in the midst of all that, there are two young men who lost a friend and had their lives changed forever in an instant. My heart goes out to Devin's family, but also to Jamel and Deontae, who are undoubtedly carrying their own set of scars from that dreadful day.
Has there been any news on how they’re doing now or any support systems set up for young people affected by violence in the area? If anyone has updates, I’d love to know.
Hey all,
I've been thinking about how Devin's friends, Jamel Jelks and Deontae Hodges, must feel in the wake of everything that happened. It seems like they were right there when their friend lost his life so suddenly, which is something nobody should ever have to go through. Their testimonies must have played a significant role during the trial, but I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for them to relive that day in court. Being involved in a shooting like this, especially losing a close friend, would leave such long-lasting emotional scars. I hope they've been able to find some peace and healing over the years. It's just a grim reminder of how gun violence affects not only the victim but also those who are left to pick up the pieces. Anyone else following up on how they're doing now? They deserve so much support.
