I recently came across some information about the Dolphin nightclub shooting in 2015, and something struck me regarding the role of the club in all this. Given the history of violence associated with the Dolphin, it's infuriating that those in charge failed to shut it down despite repeated incidents and warnings. Alderman Waguespack and others pushed hard for action, yet the venue remained open with that late-night license—a decision that seems even more reckless now. It's crucial to question why the authority's requests fell on deaf ears and whether more stringent actions could've been taken earlier. The loss of Elijah Moore and Deonta Jackson is immeasurable, and it's devastating to think that their families are left not only grieving but also navigating this complex web of negligence. I hope that this tragedy prompts a serious reevaluation of how such establishments are monitored and regulated. It's high time for tangible changes that put community safety above all else. My thoughts are with the families as they seek justice and accountability in this ongoing investigation.
