Frank R. Daw, the Chief of Police in Dunsmuir, California, tragically lost his life in the early hours of July 29, 1935. The incident that led to his death began late in the evening of July 28, 1935, when two men committed a robbery south of Dunsmuir. Chief Daw, along with California Highway Patrol Officer "Doc" Malone, quickly responded to the crime. They located two men matching the description of the robbery suspects.
