I've been thinking a lot about the safety measures at places like Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area after hearing about what happened to Meghan Elizabeth Owens. It seems like such a popular spot for hiking and sightseeing, especially for young people, but I wonder if they have enough warning signs or barriers in place to prevent these kinds of accidents. Does anyone know if there have been changes or improvements since 2016? It's just so tragic to hear about someone so young having an accident during what should have been a fun outing with friends. Any locals or regular visitors to the area might have insights on this?

I’ve been thinking about how the ocean conditions on the day Meghan disappeared could have affected the search efforts. It seems like those eight- to ten-foot swells made it incredibly difficult for rescue teams and the Coast Guard to conduct a thorough search. I can't imagine how challenging it must have been to navigate those waters safely while trying to locate her. Are there any updates or experts here who can explain how those conditions might affect these types of searches? It’s baffling how nature can both inspire and be so unforgiving.
