I can't stop thinking about the impact this has had on Javier's friends. I mean, it's incredibly traumatic for those kids who were just hanging out one evening and suddenly found themselves in the middle of a shooting. Imagine having to return to school and try to act like everything is normal when you've lost a friend in such a senseless way. It's encouraging to know the Joliet Police Department is still actively working on the case, but it must be so hard for everyone who knew him to have this constant feeling of uncertainty about whether justice will be served. I really hope someone with information finds the courage to come forward soon. It's vital for the community to rally together and help bring some closure to those hurting most.
I’ve been following the tragic case of Javier Cayetano and can't help but think about the impact this has had on his school community. Dirksen Junior High must be going through an incredibly difficult time, losing one of their students in such a sudden and violent way. I wonder what kind of support they're providing to help the students cope with this trauma.
It’s important in situations like this for schools to have counselors available and maybe even organize group sessions where students can express their feelings and talk about Javier's memory. He was only 13 and had a whole life ahead of him. Has anyone heard if the school or local community might be planning a soccer event or vigil to honor Javier's memory?
Anything that brings people together could really help in healing the community a little bit. Keeping Javier's love for soccer alive could be a meaningful tribute to such a young life taken too soon. Sending love to everyone affected by this tragedy.
