I’ve been following the discussions around the tragic death of Dione Biggs and wanted to touch on the ongoing struggle to obtain justice in cases like his. It’s incredibly distressing to think about how many families, including Dione’s, are left in limbo because of slow-moving investigations. The lack of eyewitnesses or leads means these cases can go unsolved for years, sometimes indefinitely. It must be incredibly difficult for his loved ones to cope with not only the loss but also the lack of closure. I can’t imagine their frustration and pain while the system grinds slowly. When investigations stall, it only deepens the wound for those searching for answers and justice. It begs the question—how can we improve this process so that families aren’t left waiting for justice that might never come? There’s got to be a way to support both the communities affected by violence and the authorities responsible for tackling it. My thoughts are with Dione’s family and everyone else who has suffered from such senseless violence in Baltimore.
