I’ve been following the case of Rayshawn Finley and Alton Ellis. My heart goes out to both their families, especially knowing that Ellis's toddler was there during such a traumatic event. I can’t stop thinking about that poor child who witnessed the whole situation. It’s so disturbing that something like this happened while Ellis was just trying to take his son to school. I hope the family can find a way to help him process and heal from this as he grows up.
It makes me wonder about the broader community support in areas impacted by frequent violent incidents like this. Are there enough resources for trauma counseling for families and especially young children who are exposed to such violence? It just feels like there should be more attention given to supporting those left behind after tragedies like this. Anyone know if there have been initiatives or services introduced in Chicago for victims of gun violence and their families?
It's so incredibly sad to hear about incidents like this, where children are caught in such terrifying situations. My heart goes out to Ellis's little boy, who had to witness something so traumatic at such a tender age. I can't even begin to imagine how this will affect him as he grows up. It's a reminder of how the ripple effects of violence extend far beyond just the immediate victims. I truly hope that he and his family have a strong support system around them to help navigate the aftermath of such a tragic event. It also makes me wonder about the accessibility of support services for kids who experience trauma like this in Chicago. Does anyone know what kind of help is available for young children in these situations?
