It’s been over three years, and I still find myself thinking about Tyevell’s case. What really strikes me is the neighborhood where it happened—Chatham. It has such a storied history, filled with vibrant culture and resilient people who have seen so much over the years. To think that Tyevell’s life was cut short on a street that's witnessed so much of Chicago’s history is truly saddening. It bothers me that such a traumatic event could occur in a place that should feel like home to its residents. Chatham is known for strong community ties, yet this case remains unsolved. It makes me reflect on the importance of community involvement in these situations. I wonder if there’s more that residents can do to help spur the investigation forward, or if systemic issues are preventing progress. Tyevell was so young, with his whole life ahead of him. It's deeply troubling to know his family and the community still don’t have answers. If you live in or near Chatham, or if you know someone who does, please share what you can about the area and the people. Are there community initiatives in place to help solve these crimes or support the victims' families? Sometimes the community carries untapped potential to help bring justice. I hope we do not let Tyevell’s death fade into a cold case file. His family deserves answers, and the community deserves peace.
