I've been thinking a lot about the impact Devell Hill had on his community, especially with his involvement in the North Lawndale Boxing Out Negativity program. It’s truly inspiring how he worked to steer young people away from a path he himself had known and was actively reshaping his life. Hearing that he became a mentor to many kids just breaks my heart. It’s such a testament to his character that, despite his past challenges, he found a way to give back and make a real difference. I can only imagine the void his absence leaves at the gym. Those kids lost a powerful role model, and my thoughts are with them, having to process such a senseless loss. It's stories like his that remind us how important community programs are, not only for personal rehabilitation but for inspiring hope and change in others. I really hope the gym continues to thrive and that Devell's work there isn’t forgotten but rather strengthens the resolve of everyone involved.
