I keep thinking about that surviving passenger in the Kia and how incredibly traumatizing this whole ordeal must be for him. It's unimaginable to watch your friends' lives end in such a violent and senseless way and to somehow make it out alive. I hope he is surrounded by a strong support network right now and is able to access the mental health resources he'll need to process this trauma. Survivors can often be forgotten in the larger narrative of tragic cases like this, but their journey to healing is just as significant. Here's hoping that he can eventually find some semblance of peace, although I know that's a long road ahead. My heart goes out to all the families affected by this tragedy.
