I've been following Keshawn Williams' case closely—it's truly terrible how someone so young can be taken away so violently. Something that's been weighing on my mind is how his dreams of moving to California highlight a bigger issue that many kids in his neighborhood face. It's like they have to plan their lives around avoiding danger instead of just being able to dream and grow like any other teenager. I can't help but think about the opportunities that were stolen from him and how his story reflects the need for safer environments for young people in Chicago. I only hope that community leaders can push for real change so families like Keshawn's don't have to endure this kind of sorrow. My heart goes out to his mom, Lakeisha, and everyone who loved him. They deserve answers and, most importantly, justice for Keshawn.
