I’ve been following the tragic loss of Laniyah Murphy, and something that truly resonates with me is how much of her life was devoted to advocating for change. It’s striking to think that someone who spent years working with groups like B.R.A.V.E. to end gun violence was taken in such a senseless manner. It highlights how pervasive this issue is, affecting even those who are leading the charge against it. Her story makes me wonder about the support systems we have—or fail to have—in place for activists like Laniyah. She was clearly an incredible young woman, driven by her own past experiences to make a difference. I can only imagine the impact she had on her peers and the future she was working towards. My heart goes out to her family and community. I truly hope that there is momentum for real change spurred by this loss. It’s essential to keep Laniyah’s memory alive by continuing her fight against violence. How can we not only honor her legacy but also ensure safety for others advocating for peace?

It's truly devastating to hear about the tragic loss of Laniyah Murphy. This young woman dedicated so much of her life to fighting against violence, and yet she was taken in such an unfair way. One aspect that keeps haunting me is how she miraculously survived a similar ordeal back in 2018. You'd think going through something like that would be enough for one lifetime, but she bravely used that experience to fuel her advocacy. It's deeply upsetting that Laniyah devoted herself to trying to create a safer city for everyone, only to become a victim herself. I can't even imagine the frustration and pain her family and friends must be feeling, especially with the investigation still ongoing. The fact that no arrests have been made is incredibly frustrating and must be so painful for those who loved her. I just hope that this spurs even more action towards tackling gun violence in Chicago. We shouldn't have to keep losing beautiful souls like Laniyah. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragic event.
