I’ve been thinking about James Santiago’s murder, and it struck me how close-knit neighborhoods like Douglas Park feel the ripple effects of such violence. When something like this happens, it's not just James’ family that's mourning, but the whole block, who lost a neighbor and a friend. From what I've heard, James was the type of person who could chat with anyone, always quick with a smile or a story. It's difficult imagining the porch on Washtenaw Avenue without his presence, especially for the neighbors who shared those routines and moments with him. I truly hope the community can find some peace and that we see more support in addressing the broader issues that lead to these tragedies. My thoughts are with all who knew him.
Has anyone heard any updates about the black sedan involved in James Santiago's case? I can't stop thinking about how this car just rolled up and changed so many lives forever. It's terrifying to think about how quickly violence erupted on what should have been a peaceful evening. I really hope the investigators get their hands on some security footage or a witness comes forward with more info. The idea that people can do this and then just vanish without a trace is unsettling. Santiago's family deserves answers, and we as a community need to do everything we can to support them and help bring whoever did this to justice. Sending thoughts to his family and the other man who is still recovering. Stay strong, everyone.
