It's so difficult to read about stories like Dashawn Harris's. I can’t help but think about how his life was taken so abruptly. He was just 21, with his whole future ahead of him. What seems to be even more frustrating is the lack of answers or arrests in connection with his murder. It makes me wonder about the kind of resources the Chicago Police Department has at its disposal and whether they’re able to keep up with the demands of such ongoing violence. From what I've gathered, the violence around the 79th Street Red Line area seems relentless, and it must be daunting for the community to feel this constant threat. My thoughts are really with Dashawn’s family and friends as they try to navigate this incredibly painful time. They, more than anyone, deserve justice and some form of closure. Hoping the community can come together strong on this one—it seems like that’s where the real power for change lies.
